ancient history

greetings and salutation.   and welcome to catching the ox,   a project started by david lanthan reamer and mike gross,  two photographers who both came up on  the mean streets of north jersey.   they had originally met back in,  believe it or not...  1990!

thru a mutual friend and hell of a gal,   braedon gregory  (holla!)

they ran with the same crowd for a few years, but then lost touch.    mike ended up in NYC  via portland oregon  and david ended up in portland oregon via santa cruz.   small world.   well,  it had been close to 12 years since the two had spoken.   when a random phone call reunited them,   fate intervened and  3 hours later this project was born.

each,  having spent a good amount of time in and around professional kitchens  before taking up a life of photography, felt quite comfortable with the challenges of buying, cooking, cleaning, cutting, styling, primping and  providing every topic suggested to shoot.

with each project they alternate who gets to choose the subject.  hopefully as this grows, they will be bringing in regular guest photographers  from both coasts to join in  the fun.
